Baseball Recap: Weyauwega-Fremont Comes Up Short

Weyauwega-Fremont extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 1-4 in the process. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winneconne Wolves. If the Warhawks were looking for revenge after losing 21-11 to the Wolves when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Winneconne, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. The matchup marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

For Winneconne's part, the team relied heavily on Broderick Stille, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Colson Kleinschmidt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weyauwega-Fremont will head out to face off against Shiocton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Winneconne, they will venture away from home to challenge Wautoma at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight.
