Preview: Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish vs. Mission Bears
The Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Mission Bears at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory strolled past Terra Nova with points to spare, taking the game 51-33. Given Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Terra Nova is ranked 762nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Fedrick Pernell, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Goorin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mission's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Wednesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They suffered a tough 73-49 defeat at the hands of The Academy - San Francisco.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Mission, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-3.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mission when the teams last played back in December of 2019, but they still walked away with a 75-71 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
