Baseball Recap: Living Word Lutheran Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Living Word Lutheran can now relate to. They fell just short of the Mayville Cardinals by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Easton Oliver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Living Word Lutheran saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin LaPerriere, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

With the defeat, Living Word Lutheran broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-11. As for Mayville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Living Word Lutheran nor Mayville have any future games scheduled.
