Football Recap: Fitzgerald Skates Past Brantley County with Ease + How To Watch

A well-balanced attack led Fitzgerald over Brantley County in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Purple Hurricane blew the Herons out of the water with a 48-0 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Purple Hurricane had established a 42-point advantage.

Fitzgerald had a senior duo take command as Daniel Harris rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries and Matthew Cowan threw for 138 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 88.9% of his passes. Those 107 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Harris.

Fitzgerald's run defense was locked in: Brantley County could only muster 1.3 yards per carry. The Purple Hurricane are 2-1 when they shut down the run game so well.

Fitzgerald moved to 3-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Brantley County, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coincidentally, Fitzgerald and Brantley County will both be playing Thomasville the next time they take the field. The Purple Hurricane will head out to face the Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Herons will host them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
