Basketball Recap: Memorial Red Devils vs. Springfield Tigers
Memorial lost against Springfield back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Red Devils lost 48-22 to the Tigers. The Red Devils were down 37-11 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meilianys Colon Rodriguez was Memorial's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Arianna Gonzalez held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. Yaleiska Diaz took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Springfield can attribute much of their success to Kristina Vecchione, who posted 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Wymer, who had seven points.
Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Memorial will head out to square off against Windham at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Springfield, they will venture away from home to challenge McDonald at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
