Basketball Recap: Maliyah Holmes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Crawford County

Pike County won the last time they faced Crawford County and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Pike County Pirates walked away with a 51-41 win over the Crawford County Eagles.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pike County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maliyah Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Holmes is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerrah Foster, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Crawford County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maliyah Stallion dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stallion has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Ivey, who earned two points along with ten boards and four steals.

Pike County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Crawford County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Pike County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Marion County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crawford County, they will look to defend their home court on December 27th against Academy for Classical Education at 6:30 p.m.
