Baseball Recap: Sam Davidson and Trevor Shimabukuro Secure Win for Washington Academy

Washington Academy won the last time they faced Calais and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 10-0 shutout. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Ben Hennessey, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Calais off the board. Hennessey has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Washington Academy let Trevor Shimabukuro and Sam Davidson run wild. Shimabukuro got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Davidson earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Davidson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of James Welch, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Washington Academy's record now sits at 6-1. As for Calais, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Washington Academy will head out to face off against Mount View at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Calais, they will host Shead at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.17 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
