Soccer Game Preview: Anna-Jonesboro vs. Freeburg

The Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats will square off against the Freeburg Midgets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Anna-Jonesboro has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Freeburg will arrive with four straight victories.

Last Thursday, Anna-Jonesboro didn't have quite enough to beat Massac County and fell 3-2. Christian Thompson was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Ethan Plott and Logan Pearl scored both of Anna-Jonesboro's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 30 goals.

Meanwhile, Freeburg and Murphysboro combined for 19 shots on goal on Tuesday, which explains the impressive eight total goals scored. The Midgets put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 8-0 win. Freeburg might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by four goals or more this season.

Anna-Jonesboro's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Freeburg, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8-1.
