The Savannah Christian Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Toombs County Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Savannah Christian comes in on three and Toombs County on five.
Savannah Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Swainsboro 45-19 on Friday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Raiders had established a 22-point advantage.
Blaise Thomas had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 128 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Savannah Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Savannah Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Christian Beard and Weston Hughes. Beard has been hot, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last six times he's played.
Meanwhile, Toombs County humbled Vidalia with a 56-16 victory. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Indians are ranked 310th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Savannah Christian better keep an eye on Justin Powell. He was instrumental in Toombs County's win, rushing for 65 yards and three scores on only nine carries. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Gavin Fletcher, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Toombs County, racking up 20 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Fletcher, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from Alex Scott.
Savannah Christian's record is now 6-3. As for Toombs County, their record now sits at 8-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Savannah Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Toombs County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 181.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Savannah Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Toombs County when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 14-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
