Softball Recap: Forsyth Home Educators Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Forsyth Home Educators proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Union Grove Christian Patriots 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since March 5, 2024.

Abigail Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Isabel Martinez looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Evans, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Rebecca Cheek also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Forsyth Home Educators' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Union Grove Christian, they moved to 6-3 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Forsyth Home Educators will face off against Oak Level Baptist Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Forsyth Home Educators' pitchers better be ready for this one: Oak Level Baptist Academy has averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Union Grove Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Triad Baptist Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on April 7.
