Basketball Preview: Mitchell Christian Golden Eagles vs. James Valley Christian Vikings
Having just played yesterday, the Mitchell Christian Golden Eagles will get right back to it and host the James Valley Christian Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Mitchell Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Sunshine Bible Academy 82-54 on the road. That 28 point margin sets a new team best for Mitchell Christian this season.
It was another big night for Aiden Lieber, who almost dropped a double-double on 43 points and nine rebounds. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Mitchell Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Tegethoff, who scored seven points along with ten steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, James Valley Christian didn't have too much trouble with the at home on Saturday as they won 66-52.
The win makes it two in a row for Mitchell Christian and bumps their season record up to 4-11. As for James Valley Christian, they pushed their record up to 7-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Mitchell Christian suffered a grim 69-43 defeat to the Vikings in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mitchell Christian was down 33-13.
