Softball Recap: Wheaton Academy Warriors vs. Chicago Hope Academy
Wheaton Academy was the 14-4 winner over Chicago Hope Academy when they last played one another last Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chicago Hope Academy on Friday. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Tati Chavez was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Chavez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.
In other batting news, Vivian Brummel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Wheaton Academy's record now sits at 3-6. As for Chicago Hope Academy, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheaton Academy will head out to square off against Aurora Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
