Baseball Recap: West Nassau Takes Down Ribault in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and West Nassau had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Ribault Trojans get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on six straight.

Mason Kayser looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Sean Middleton and Colin Marchant did most of the damage at the plate: Middleton went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Marchant went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Marchant a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Layfield, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

West Nassau always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Nassau's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Ribault, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, West Nassau will challenge Fernandina Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3.5, the Pirates 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Ribault does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
