Recap: Franklin Central Flashes vs. Center Grove Trojans

On Friday, The Franklin Central Flashes faced the Center Grove Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Franklin Central ended up on the wrong side of a tough 40-14 walloping at the hands of Center Grove. Franklin Central has struggled against Center Grove recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Although Franklin Central took the loss, they still got scores from Brody Middleton and Jayon Harvey.

Center Grove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Cherry out in front who threw for 261 yards and five touchdowns. Cherry hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Noah Coy did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 84 receiving yards.

Franklin Central's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.3 points per game. As for Center Grove, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Franklin Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Center Grove will head out on the road to face off against Columbus North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus North is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
