Basketball Recap: Chapel Hill Takes a Loss

Chapel Hill lost against Jordan on February 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chapel Hill Tigers took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jordan Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Falcons are ranked 29th).

Despite the loss, Chapel Hill still got an impressive performance from Jason Krieg, who en route to 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That's the most points Krieg has posted since back in December of 2024. Brian Rollins was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Jordan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Julian Lowe, who on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Lowe's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Rivers Knight, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 boards.

Chapel Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Jordan, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapel Hill will take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapel Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season. As for Jordan, they will challenge Pine Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jordan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Pine Forest likes a good challenge.
