Soccer Game Preview: Cardinal Gibbons vs. Bishop Verot

The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs are taking a road trip to face off against the Bishop Verot Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cardinal Gibbons comes in on three and Bishop Verot on nine.

If Bishop Verot heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Cardinal Gibbons took over last week. Cardinal Gibbons was the clear victor by a 4-1 margin over Canterbury on Thursday. Considering the Chiefs have won four games by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Bishop Verot earned a 3-1 win over Aubrey Rogers last Thursday. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Patriots are ranked 118th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jillian Haataja and Gianna Fabrizi scored all three of Bishop Verot's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Cardinal Gibbons pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three contests. As for Bishop Verot, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
