Basketball Game Preview: Horizon Honors Eagles vs. San Carlos Braves

The Horizon Honors Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the San Carlos Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Horizon Honors is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.

Horizon Honors is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Benjamin Franklin just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Chargers are ranked 45th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Max Gerelick, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Segal, who posted eight points and 13 rebounds.

San Carlos has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-54 heartbreaker at the hands of Gilbert Classical Academy.

San Carlos' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7. As for Horizon Honors, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
