Basketball Game Preview: Mayfair Monsoons vs. Camarillo Scorpions

The Mayfair Monsoons will be taking part in a tournament against the Camarillo Scorpions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Mayfair's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Last Friday, Mayfair had to suffer through a 89-62 loss at the hands of La Mirada. The loss continues a trend for the Monsoons in their matchups with the Matadores: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Camarillo had already won 17 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.1 points) and they went ahead and made it 18 on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 win over the Eagles. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but the Scorpions were the better team in the second half.

Camarillo pushed their record up to 21-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mayfair, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-5.

Mayfair came up short against Camarillo when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 50-38. Can Mayfair avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
