Grace Academy blew Berkeley Springs out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Berkeley Springs got their revenge. The Knights fell just short of the Indians by a score of 13-11. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Lawson Aikens was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Aikens wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Walls, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Grace Academy is 2-1 when Walls posts three or more RBI, but 4-6 otherwise. Another was AJ Presley, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Heritage Academy came up short against Martinsburg on Tuesday and fell 7-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Micah Wilson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Titus Britner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Heritage Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Grace Academy, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Grace Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Heritage Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Grace Academy couldn't quite get it done against Heritage Academy in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 8-3. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
