East Fairmont and Elkins are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bees will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

East Fairmont fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Fairmont Senior on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Polar Bears by a score of 5-4.

Sophia Stevens spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Sydney Baston made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reese Van Zant, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Elkins fell victim to Grafton and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 7-0 to the Bearcats.

Elkins saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Mahanes, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Elkins' defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for East Fairmont, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.

Elkins' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Fairmont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. It's a different story for Elkins, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain East Fairmont's hitters?

Everything went East Fairmont's way against Elkins in their previous matchup back in April, as East Fairmont made off with an 18-4 win. Do the Bees have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
