Volleyball Recap: Madyson Shaffer Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Triton

Pioneer had won four straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 15-12 to make it five. They put the hurt on the Triton Trojans with a sharp 3-0 victory. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pioneer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madyson Shaffer, who had 33 digs. Shaffer has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more digs the last four times she's played. Lois Layer was another key player, getting 16 assists and nine digs.

As for Triton, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since September 9th.

Despite the loss, Triton still got an impressive performance from Lydia Hammond, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Pioneer has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against North Miami on the 2nd. As for Triton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against South Bend Career Academy on the 2nd.
