Basketball Game Preview: Hyannis Longhorns vs. Mullen Broncos

Hyannis is 2-8 against Mullen since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Longhorns will welcome the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hyannis is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Banner County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Longhorns blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 64-11 final score. The win continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Hyannis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Merrihew out in front who went 7-for-11 on his way to 14 points and seven steals. Beau Rice was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Hyannis was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Banner County only posted one.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mullen beat Sutherland 36-30 on Thursday.

Hyannis better focus on containing Jacob Walker and Nicholas Gonzalez as the pair were huge in Mullen's win. Walker dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards, while Gonzalez posted nine points. Those 13 rebounds gave Walker a new career-high.
