Softball Recap: Fort Payne Has No Trouble Against Guntersville

Fort Payne got themselves on the board against Guntersville on Thursday, but Guntersville never followed suit. They blew past Guntersville 15-0. Considering Fort Payne has won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Olivia Lee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Jireh Wagner was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carley Cash, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

With the victory, Fort Payne broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-15. As for Guntersville, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Fort Payne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Guntersville, they will square off against Scottsboro at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
