Basketball Recap: Frederick W Gets the Win

Frederick W saw some tournament action on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 victory over the Bluegrass United Bluehawks. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 41st in Maryland, while the Bluehawks are ranked 174th in Kentucky), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bluegrass United's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Allie McGuire, who posted 17 points and seven boards, and Noe Gordon, who put up four points in addition to nine rebounds and four steals. Those nine rebounds gave Gordon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marty Gordon, who scored three points and six boards.

Frederick W's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Bluegrass United, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-23.

Frederick W wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-48 loss against Greenville H on the 7th. Bluegrass United has also already played their next contest (against Chatham HomeSchool), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
