Basketball Recap: Salem Comes Up Short

Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DuQuoin Indians. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly nine points.

When it comes to explaining why Salem lost, don't look at Avery Gullion. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-11 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaeden Bevolo, who posted nine points.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for DuQuoin, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-8.

Salem wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-58 defeat against Mater Dei on the 3rd. As for DuQuoin, they have also already played their next matchup, a 70-41 loss against Pinckneyville on the 6th.
