Basketball Recap: Madison-Grant Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Grace Wood and Madalee Holloway

Madison-Grant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eastbrook Panthers. The Argylls lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 70-28 score last time.

Madison-Grant's loss came despite strong showings from Madalee Holloway and Grace Wood. Holloway went 5 for 12 on her way to 15 points, while Wood almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Olivia Dunham was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Mia Bustos, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 20 rebounds for Eastbrook. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bustos has scored at least a third of Eastbrook's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Fox, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 23 points.

Madison-Grant's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Eastbrook, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will challenge Tipton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eastbrook, they will face off against Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
