Volleyball Recap: Goessel Takes a Loss

Goessel was the 2-0 winner over Sedgwick when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bluebirds took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals on Saturday. Bluebirds fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Cardinals since Saturday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Sedgwick scored at least 20 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20.

Goessel's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Sedgwick, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2-6 record this season.

Goessel will square off against Canton-Galva at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sedgwick, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Central Christian on the 13th.
