Softball Recap: Westby's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Westby's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 15-12 win over the Luther Knights. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Norsemen considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Ava Berg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off 13 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Westby got a massive performance out of Taylor Davidson, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Davidson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Miller, who went 4-for-5 with four runs and two stolen bases.

Westby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory snapped Westby's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-9 record. As for Luther, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Westby will square off against Kickapoo at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Luther, they will be playing at home against De Soto at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
