Softball Game Preview: Golden Valley Cougars vs. Sonora Wildcats

The Golden Valley Cougars will take on the Sonora Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

It was a proper cat-fight when Golden Valley duked it out with Los Banos on Tuesday. The Cougars fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-6.

Kaleigh Price and Kaylin Scheurich stepped up to the plate in a big way. Price went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Scheurich went 1-for-3 with one home run. Gabriella Cienfuegos was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sonora was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 13-4 to Ripon.

Sonora's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Golden Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Golden Valley beat Sonora 4-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
