Freedom (Oakley) takes over the top spot in the NorCal Open Division of the MaxPreps California Regional Bowl Game matchups, following its win over Pittsburg last week.

Freedom's move into the top spot drops St. Mary's (Stockton) to the Class 1-AA division game against De La Salle (Concord). While De La Salle is forecast to be the runner-up in the Open Division of the North Coast Section, according to the MaxPreps computer rankings, the Spartans still advance because the CIF allows for the runner-up of an Open Division to qualify for the state bowl games.

MaxPreps determines its regional matchup predictions based on the MaxPreps Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. Care is also taken to avoid regional matchups between teams from the same section when possible. The team's record from this year and its current computer ranking are included in the regional matchups.
