Basketball Recap: East Falls Despite Big Games from Jaylah Dulin and Nora Amidbakarr

East was the 48-46 winner over Cottonwood when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The East Leopards came up short against the Cottonwood Colts on Saturday, falling 57-31.

East's loss came despite strong showings from Nora Amidbakarr and Jaylah Dulin. Amidbakarr posted six points along with 12 boards and four steals, while Dulin put up 15 points. That was a full 48.4% of East's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Carley Caton was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Workman, who earned ten points.

East has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Cottonwood, their record now sits at 9-2.

East will square off against Fremont at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Fremont will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something East surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cottonwood, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-43 win against Juan Diego Catholic on the 28th.
