Baseball Recap: East Chicago Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bowman Academy on Wednesday, East Chicago Central came back down to earth. The Cardinals came up short against the Hammond Central Wolves on Thursday, falling 17-4. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 10-9.

East Chicago Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jorge Sanchez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. The Cardinals are 2-1 when Sanchez posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another was Victor Rivera, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

East Chicago Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Hammond Central, the win got them back to even at 2-2-1.

Coincidentally, East Chicago Central and Hammond Central will both be playing Hammond Academy of Science & Tech the next time they take the field. The Wolves will head out to face the Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cardinals will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
