Baseball Recap: Liberty Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Liberty won against Chesnee last Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Red Devils beat the Buford Yellow Jackets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

The team relied heavily on Carson Garrick, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Liberty: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 10-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of T.J. Borow, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Liberty's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Buford, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buford, they will be playing at home against Fairfield Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets are facing the Griffins at the right time seeing as the Griffins are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
