Softball Recap: Cosumnes Oaks Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Union, Cosumnes Oaks was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Lincoln Fighting Zebras with a sharp 9-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolfpack as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Cosumnes Oaks got a great performance from Ella Davey as she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Cosumnes Oaks let Onna Swanigan and Mya Wilson run wild. Swanigan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Wilson went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Swanigan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Ortega, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Cosumnes Oaks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln only posted a batting average of .222.

Cosumnes Oaks' record now sits at 6-10. As for Lincoln, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cosumnes Oaks will challenge Sheldon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lincoln, they will face off against Mira Loma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Zebras are facing the Matadors at the right time seeing as the Matadors are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
