Softball Recap: Grove City Beats Jamestown for Their Third Straight Victory

Grove City extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 8-5 in the process. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Jamestown Muskies. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 back in April.

Taylor Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grove City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Rihel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Jamestown, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 25, 2024.

On Jamestown's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Miranda Biles gave up three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks.

Coincidentally, Grove City and Jamestown will both be playing Oil City the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Oilers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Muskies will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
