Basketball Preview: Strawberry Crest Chargers vs. Sumner Stingrays
The Strawberry Crest Chargers are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Sumner Stingrays on February 7th. Sumner took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Strawberry Crest, who comes in off a win.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Strawberry Crest had no problem doing just that on Monday. They secured a 30-26 W over the Wolves. The victory was just what Strawberry Crest needed coming off of a 43-23 loss in their prior matchup.
Strawberry Crest relied on the efforts of Elektra Ribot, who scored 11 points, and Jenna Tia, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tia has scored all season.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Sumner, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-42 loss to the Warriors on Thursday.
Strawberry Crest's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Sumner, their loss dropped their record down to 19-5.
Strawberry Crest was taken down by the Stingrays 63-21 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Strawberry Crest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
