Softball Recap: Marksville Has No Trouble Against Ville Platte

Marksville won the last time they faced Ville Platte and things went their way on Monday too. Marksville blew past Ville Platte 15-5. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Katie Lachney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Lachney and Kristen Lachney did most of the damage at the plate: Madison scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Kristen scored a run while going 2-for-3. Myleigh Desselle also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Marksville lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ville Platte didn't launched any home runs.

The win made it two in a row for Marksville and bumps their season record up to 9-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Ville Platte, they dropped their record down to 5-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Marksville Tigers take on Grant Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ville Platte, they are on the road again on Thursday to play Northwest at 4:00 p.m. Ville Platte is facing Northwest at the right time seeing as Northwest is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
