Uncommitted: Laremy Tunsil 'confused' about decision

National Signing Day is all about the promise of the future. College coaches scour the nation, putting in hours and hours of effort, in an attempt to land that one kid that can change their program.

Laremy Tunsil of Columbia (Lake City, Fla.) may be that kid.

The 6-foot-6, 295-pound (according to CBSSports.com's Bruce Feldman, he's actually more like 330) offensive lineman is the No.1 recruit at his position and No. 3 overall in the class of 2013 according to 247sports.com. He ranks No. 7 overall according to MaxPreps recruiting expert Tom Lemming.

"Before I got to Lake City I was wondering what all the fuss was about," said Lemming. "Once I met Leremy and watched him on film I understood why he is considered to be the #1 offensive line prospect in the country."



Tunsil has a long wingspan and great feet for a player his size, and Lemming compared him to former Lapeer East (Mich.) standout and current Miami Dolphin tackle Jake Long.

This season, Tunsil once again earned first team All-State honors averaging 93 percent in his blocking assignments, recorded 90 pancake blocks, did not allow a sack, and helped the Columbia offense average 37 points per game. He helped his team run for 275 yards per game en route to the class 6A state quarterfinals.

Tunsil has been one of the biggest enigmas in the class of 2013 when it comes to recruiting. He hasn't spoken much publicly about his intentions, but it appears to be down to Georgia, Alabama and Ole Miss.

"I'm confused right now. I really don't know what I'm going to do," Tunsil told ESPN's Derek Tyson. "I think it's going to be like a last-minute thing, like when I wake up the morning of signing day, the first team on my mind is probably going to be the college I pick."

Despite his confusion, Tunsil's interest seems to fall into somewhat of a pecking order.

Favorite: Georgia
Numerous experts including J.C. Shurburtt, the national recruiting director for 247Sports, predict that Tunsil will end up at Georgia. He visited the Bulldogs on Jan. 18 and reportedly has a terrific relationship with offensive line coach Will Friend. While it's extremely close, it appears that the Bulldogs have the lead by a slim margin.



Contender: Ole Miss
Pretty much out of the picture until Tunsil's visit a week ago, the Rebels have become legitimate contenders. Hugh Freeze and his staff have put together a strong recruiting class headlined by the expected signing of No. 1 prospect Robert Nkemdiche. There is certainly some excitement brewing around Ole Miss, and don't be surprised if Tunsil wants to be a part of it.

Sleeper: Alabama
Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are seemingly contenders for every big recruit, and they're definitely in the mix for Tunsil. Although it appears to be a two-horse race between Ole Miss and Georgia, it wouldn't be a total shock to see Tunsil wearing an Alabama cap come signing day.

Long shot: FSU
Although still technically in consideration, it would take a lot for the Noles to gain traction this late in the game. Proximity is the biggest factor FSU has going for it right now.
