Basketball Recap: Florence Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Florence had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 51-45 to the Pisgah Dragons.

Pisgah's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laylah Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards. What's more, Johnson racked up six blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madysen Washington, who shot 43% from the field en route to 13 points.

Florence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-25 victory against Central Hinds Academy on the 8th. As for Pisgah, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-43 win against West Lauderdale on the 6th.
