Southwestern and Rockcastle County are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Warriors will take on the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southwestern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Southwestern will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Madison Southern, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Warriors blew past the Eagles 16-8 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Halle Norvell, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Macie Gwin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Southwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison Southern only posted an OBP of .417.
Meanwhile, Rockcastle County was able to grind out a solid victory over Jackson County on Tuesday, taking the game 9-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.
Rayleigh Hancock made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Hancock was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.
In other batting news, Macy Spivey was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Addi Lovell, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Southwestern has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Rockcastle County, their record is now 15-12-1.
Rockcastle County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Southwestern has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. It's a different story for Rockcastle County, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Southwestern's hitters?
Southwestern took their victory against Rockcastle County when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
