The MaxPreps state rankings speculated that St. John's might lose last week, and the rankings were right on the money. There's no need to mince words: it lost to Central, and it lost bad. The score wound up at 56 - 20. St. John's will need to regroup quickly to avoid another defeat since it is the underdog in its next matchup. The bitter result was made even more difficult to swallow as it knocked the team down six power ranking positions, the most of any team in the power rankings.

It was a battle of top-notch squads when Tewksbury Memorial (5th in the power rankings) took on Duxbury (9th) last week. Tewksbury Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over Duxbury, winning 29 - 21. Tewksbury Memorial saw its record improve to 10-1 and its power rank jump four places as a result.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Bedford (1st in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Goffstown (19th). Bedford will be strutting in after a win while Goffstown will be stumbling in from a defeat. We'll see if Bedford can add another positive mark to its record or if Goffstown can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Bedford's step.
