Pennridge proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Abington Galloping Ghosts 5-3. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Averi Dockery was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Payton Keyser was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jadyn Gulbinski was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
The victory got Pennridge back to even at 7-7. As for Abington, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Coming up, Pennridge will head out on the road to square off against Central Bucks East at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Abington, they will be playing at home against Springfield Township at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Galloping Ghosts will no doubt try to take advantage of.
