Softball Game Preview: Lafayette Rams vs. Tabb Tigers

Lafayette is 0-10 against Tabb since April of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Rams will challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Lafayette has given up an average of 21.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lafayette is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 29th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 22-0 to Poquoson.

Meanwhile, Tabb came up short against York on Tuesday, falling 14-1. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Tabb saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Grogg, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. That hit marked the first that Grogg got this season.

Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Tabb, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Lafayette's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Rams have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Tabb, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lafayette continue to outrun the ball?

Lafayette might still be hurting after the 21-3 defeat they got from Tabb when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
