Basketball Recap: Branford Takes a Loss

Branford and East Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Branford had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the East Catholic Eagles and fell 77-45. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Eagles are ranked seventh).

Branford has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. East Catholic pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home.

Branford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Catholic, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when East Catholic Eagles take on Joel Barlow Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
