They were just one part of a punishing run game: Patrician Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 434 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 293 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, South Choctaw Academy hadn't done well against Crenshaw Christian Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rebels simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cougars 64-18. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Cougars are ranked 356th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Patrician Academy better keep an eye on Dawson Sikes. He was instrumental in South Choctaw Academy's win, rushing for 85 yards and a pair of TDs. John Railey made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
South Choctaw Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Railey and Gage Adams, who each picked up one interception apiece. Railey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Patrician Academy's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for South Choctaw Academy, their record is now 7-4.
Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Patrician Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 374.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Choctaw Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 291.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Patrician Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against South Choctaw Academy when the teams last played back in September, but they still walked away with a 28-22 win. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
