Football Recap: Hewlett Sports Academy Starts off Right with Win over Varsity Opponent

Hewlett Sports Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Varsity Opponent, sneaking past 16-14.

Zay Rivera went supernova, rushing for 62 yards and one TD, while also picking up 31 receiving yards. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 62 yards.

Hewlett Sports Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Cheewees Guzeh and Jaden Pearson, who racked up five sacks between them.

Looking ahead, Hewlett Sports Academy will square off against St. Frances Academy Regional on Friday. The game will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season. Varsity Opponent has already played their next match (against Magnolia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
