Football Recap: Tay Williams Key Part of Team Effort in Cougars Win

There's no place like home for Asheville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past the Asheville School (Independent) Blues with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 39-21. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their 12-point performance the contest before.

Asheville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tay Williams out in front who threw for 198 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Clement Davidson handled things on the ground, rushing for 176 yards.

Asheville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asheville School (Independent) only rushed for 109 rushing yards.

Despite the loss, Asheville School (Independent) still got an impressive performance from Shiloh Mukendi, who rushed for 55 yards and three scores.

The win got Asheville back to even at 2-2. As for Asheville School (Independent), their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Asheville will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Watauga at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. As for Asheville School (Independent), they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Charlotte Country Day School at 7:00 p.m. The Buccaneers' defense has only allowed 11.5 points per game this season, so the Blues' offense will have their work cut out for them.
