Football Recap: Austin Prep Cougars vs. Greenwich Country Day Tigers
Austin Prep lost against Greenwich Country Day back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cougars had to suffer through a 37-7 loss at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 229th in Massachusetts, while the Tigers are ranked 64th in Connecticut).
Peter Costantino had an outrageously good game for Greenwich Country Day as he threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 41 yards. Those 41 rushing yards gave Costantino a new career-high. Greenwich Country Day also got help from Elijah Canty, who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.
Having lost for the first time this season, Austin Prep fell to 2-1. As for Greenwich Country Day, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Austin Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Groton School at 4:15 p.m. on the 10th. As for Greenwich Country Day, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-21 victory against Thayer Academy on the 4th.
