Recap: Griffith Panthers vs. Calumet New Tech Warriors
The Griffith Panthers won the last time they faced the Calumet New Tech Warriors, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Griffith strolled past Calumet New Tech with points to spare, taking the game 56-41.
Griffith's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jakhari Mackey, who scored 14 points. Gianni Feaster was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Calumet New Tech still got an impressive performance from Eric Allen, who scored 11 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Colby Williams, who scored eight points.
Calumet New Tech struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Griffith now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Calumet New Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Griffith will be home for the holidays to greet Rich Township at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rich Township presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Griffith in their respective states (Rich Township is ranked 110th in Illinois, while Griffith is ranked 224th in Indiana). Calumet New Tech won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Portage at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. The timing is sure in Portage's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Calumet New Tech has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
