            Softball Recap: Tennyson Lancers vs. Piedmont Highlanders        
        
		
        
        
            Tennyson extended their losing streak  to four  on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They lost  16-1 to the Piedmont Highlanders. The Lancers were not able to make up for their  defeat to the Highlanders from their previous meeting  back in April of 2024.
As for Piedmont,  the  win made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 7-6. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.5 runs over those games.
For Piedmont's part,  Edie Elmquist was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out nine batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. Elmquist was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  stolen bases and three  runs. Those  two  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Kajsa Benson, who  went 3-for-4 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and two  doubles. Those  two  doubles gave  her a new career-high.  Hailey Navarro also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
 Coming up, Tennyson is taking a road trip to  face off against Valley Christian  at 3:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Piedmont, they will face off against Lick-Wilmerding at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.86  runs per game on average), something the Highlanders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
